Monday Morning Roundup

Happy Monday, friends!

Links are going up a little later than usual today, but in doing so, I can include the latest news from Disney Parks - changes are coming to the Jungle Cruise at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World! Disney Parks Blog has the details, including a video from Imagineer Kevin Lively describing some of what’s in store. Todd Martens over at the LA Times also did a great write-up of the history of the attraction and what’s ahead. I’m excited for the updates - they look really fun and embody the spirit and humor of the attraction, and re-imagining some of the more problematic aspects of the ride (see: most of the depictions of “natives”) is long overdue.

More from the past week:

If you didn’t have time last Wednesday to watch Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremonies, Amanda Gorman’s poem is a can’t miss.

Also related to the inauguration - take a look at Dr. Jill Biden’s gorgeous coat & dress she wore that evening. The designer breaks down how it connects to all of the US states and territories.

This cute oversized daisy cardigan from a favorite local shop

And while we’re shopping…if we’re going to be in sweatsuits/peak WFH style for a while still, this pink set (sweatshirt and shorts) from Draper James is on my list. Perfect for Valentines Day into spring!

I swear Girl Scout Cookie season gets earlier and earlier every year (not complaining!) - if you don’t have a Girl Scout in your life to feed your cookie addiction, consider buying from NYC Troop 6000 which is made up of girls in the shelter system, helping provide financial support and a sense of community.

Still have WandaVision at the tip top of my viewing list (we stay up late on Thursdays specifically to catch it right when it drops at midnight PST 🙈) - and they just released soundtracks for Episode 1 and 2! Assuming this will be a weekly thing going forward, I’m excited to add these to my background music playlists.

Another show we dove into this week was Lupin on Netflix - it’s a retelling of the classic French story of world-famous gentleman thief and master of disguise Arsène Lupin and it’s fantastic - really fun mystery and heist set ups, with a great cast. The show is in French with subtitles, but it’s not distracting from the action (and honestly, it gives me a bit of a refresher on all the French classes I took throughout school!) Part 1 is only 5 episodes - we can’t wait for Part 2!!
