Weekly Roundup

Hello and Happy Tuesday, friends! The roundup is hitting a day late this week after the holiday weekend, in which honestly Monday completely snuck up on - and blew right past - me following a busy week where J had to go in on Saturday and we had a covid friendly Valentines (Din Tai Fung takeout and a movie on the couch.)

Hope everyone was able to have a bit of a break somewhere in the last 3 days, and that you’re surviving the cold if you are in the very large portion of the country that had snow this weekend - including Texas, where over 4 million people have been hit with power outages in the last day or so.

More from the past week:

Last Monday, the 8th, was Disney California Adventure’s 20th Birthday! Most of the park remains closed (aside from some limited shopping & dining along Buena Vista Street) but Andy Castro did a great retrospective on the park’s history.

Speaking of anniversaries, yesterday (February 15th) was the 71st anniversary of Disney’s Cinderella! Cinderella is one of my all-time favorite fairytales, and there have been some wonderful adaptations over the years. On Disney+ in addition to the 1950 classic, you can also watch Ever After (1998) and the Wonderful World of Disney adaptation of Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (1997) starring Brandy. I don’t know about you, but both of those films were on repeat in my house when I was a kid! Todrick Hall released a fun Cinderella medley in honor of the release on Disney+ this weekend, with Brandy and the rest of the OG cast!

The live action version of Cinderella from 2015 is also my favorite of all of the recent adaptations of their animated films - sadly it’s not available anywhere to stream at the moment, but hopefully Disney+ adds it back into their library soon! Disney Editions also released a gorgeous art book in 2015 covering both the 1950 & 2015 films, as well as a history of the fairytale itself if you’re really looking for a deep dive.

I just discovered that the Sakura moisturizer I bought on a whim in the Tokyo airport on our way home from our honeymoon now has an English language site & ships to the US! So I’ll be adding this back into my routine ASAP.

Valentine’s Day just passed, but I’m still thinking of picking up these cute heart jacquard pajama top & shorts.

Continuing the pajama trend, since we’re still home all the time anyway and baby pajamas are the cutest - Burt’s Bees Baby has some really great springtime prints like this oranges set.

Disney just released a bunch of Beauty and the Beast (1991) items, including a gorgeous replica of the Beast’s mirror!

Header image is Cinderella Castle in honor of her film anniversary - taken by me on a trip to Walt Disney World ages ago. Check out that now-retro color scheme!
